CGC
The purpose of the CGC Test is to ensure your dog
can be a respected member of the community because
it is trained and conditioned to act mannerly in
the home, in public places and in the presence of
other dogs. The program offered by AKC (American
Kennel Club) embraces both purebred and mixed-breed
dogs. Before performing these requirements,
the dog's owner must present a current rabies certificate.

this test.
The ten tests the dog must pass are:
1. Accepting
a friendly stranger
2. Sitting
politely for petting
3. Appearance
and grooming
4. Out
for a walk (walking on a loose lead)
5. Walking
through a crowd
6. Sit
and down on command and Staying in place
7. Coming
when called
8. Reaction
to another dog
9. Reaction
to distraction
10. Supervised
separation
Requirements: Dogs must be current
on all vaccinations
All
other requirements as outlines by the AKC (see
above information)
Overview: Students
to receive the tools necessary to complete AKC Canine
Good Citizenship Certification.
Objectives: In
this course, students will:
- Have
had reviewed and practiced all elements necessary
for completion of AKC CGC certification.
- Have
a firm understanding of the importance of each
element
- Student
will have the tools necessary, through homework
assignments, to practice outside of the class environment
with their pet further re-enforcing the elements
required to succeed in testing.
